NBA Draft 09: LiveBlog

I’m guessing there are going to be a ton of these tonight. Of course, this will be the only one with Pitt bias at the forefront.

YouTube clips of DeJuan Blair abusing Hasheem Thabeet will be re-posted around the same time Thabeet goes in the top-5.

Video links of Jonny Flynn being worn down by Pitt’s defense will be appreciated as well.

And of course, Sam Young highlights.

The fun starts around 7pm. Join in, here.

Off topic, but ESPN College Gameday will be profiling Pitt football at 3:30 EST today on ESPN, according to Wanny’s Twitter. Ditka will be the guest.

I was sad for Young, but I have no sympathy for Blair. Since he declared for the draft and hired that bottom feeder agent, he has been nothing but cocky and ungrateful. Everyone with eyes can see he is small for a center, has no jump shot, and has awful ball handling. Even Dixon, the coach who recruited him when no other major schools were even looking at him, said he should stay in school. But noooo, why listen to your coach when you can get the advice of a used car dealer, er I mean “agent”? Oh yeah, and the Internet draft boards that said you were a top ten pick. I will be rooting for Blair to succeed in the NBA, but if he flops, it will serve him right for treating college hoops like the minor leagues and acting like he was above the entire Pitt program. As for Sam, it may be a good thing that he is stuck in Memphis. At least he will probably get a chance to start this year, and have guys like Gay and Thabeet to play with. Blair will ride the bench behind Duncan and Jefferson for at least two years.

What’s he going to say? Can’t go back to school. Can’t hide. I would not want to be a carton of Ben & Jerry’s in the Hill District right now.

Comment by Finite Wisdom 06.26.09 @ 2:47 pm

Didn’t Gregg Lee also say that he had “no regrets”?

Comment by BigGuy 06.26.09 @ 2:52 pm

Chris Taft had no regrets.

Comment by Finite Wisdom 06.26.09 @ 2:56 pm

“according to Wanny’s Twitter”

Hey, this is a clean blog and let’s keep it clean.

Comment by BigGuy 06.26.09 @ 3:09 pm

Finite Wisdom:

According to Chris Dokish your rumor, and that’s all it is, is 100% false.

Comment by Omar 06.26.09 @ 3:16 pm

Don’t shoot the messengers, Omar. Finite Wisdom and I appear to have it right.

Chris Dokish should be on his knees kissing my hairy sack! I’m doing his job for him while he mourns the loss of the King of Pop. Joe Bendel led off his show with this news.

Comment by Marino's Nose 06.26.09 @ 3:25 pm

I cannot find this information anywhere, ANYWHERE on the internet and therefore I emailed Chris. It isn’t true, therefore you should stop posting it unless you can provide a source.

Comment by Omar 06.26.09 @ 3:46 pm

You found this information here. This is the internet, is it not? My sources are Finite Wisdom and Joe Bendel. I will look for others, but I assure you that I have no interest in creating rumors to torture guys named Omar. I mean really, do you think that I pass the day saying “how can I screw with Omar?” Do you think that Finite Wisdom and I communicate outside of this site discussing ways to aggitate or make you nervous? Or perhaps Finite Wisdom and I are the same person with a screw loose and a hard on for manipulating the emotions of Omars with huge inferiority complexes about their school. I assure you that none of these things are true. This report is true.

Comment by Marino's Nose 06.26.09 @ 4:03 pm

I can confirm Joe Bendel’s report as well. Sad day. He’s speculating that the U-19 team was the problem and that the draft was not an issue.

Comment by NoePa 06.26.09 @ 4:12 pm

Inferiority complex? You and Finite Wisdom, and apparently Joe Bendel, have alleged that Pitt’s first McDonald’s all-american in 20+ years has asked out of his scholarship. This coming the day after 2 Pitt players that were projected to go in the first round were snubbed. Obviously this rumor, if indeed true, is a devastating turn of events for the staff. I certainly do not believe that asking for a source is proof of an inferiority complex.

Comment by Omar 06.26.09 @ 4:17 pm

I assured you that none of these things were true. How did you get inferiority complex out of that?

Comment by Marino's Nose 06.26.09 @ 4:21 pm

Not that strangers on a blog are inherently untrustworthy (lie), but does anyone have a link of some sort before we all get too bent out of shape?

Comment by Matthew 06.26.09 @ 4:44 pm

u-19? Dixon didn’t even pick the players. A committee led by Jim Boeheim picked the players.

Comment by Omar 06.26.09 @ 4:47 pm

Ah. I’ll be going down to the pub soon and ordering up a pint of Sam Adams, but nobody there is going to want to talk Pitt basketball or football. Nobody there will have an interest in Young, Blair and/or Taylor. Nobody is going to want to argue with me or take exception to my opinions. It is not going to be much fun.

Comment by BigGuy 06.26.09 @ 5:17 pm

I’m not to worried about this rumor when its posted on the blog with no story. Just hearsay from two posters one who I have never seen on here before and the other who just recently asked what DL players has Wanny ever developed (the entire current line, with several projected draft picks)?!?! If someone doesn’t know that about Pitt, I’m not going to get to worked up about their rumors.

Comment by Ontario Lett's Go Pitt 06.26.09 @ 8:29 pm

Oh boy Blair, I just had a bad feeling when he was talking about the NBA and his draft position during the season. Id just like to know how much money he got in advance from that agent from PGH> I always felt that Blairs mother was involved and that the agent got to her first and greased her with something, loot, cigarettes, car, cruise, something. Id love to know. Blair stating that his reading the mock drafts on the internet was his deathblow, he may end up as Chris Taft. I hope not because when Blair played for PITT he was nothing but a good teammate and a great player. He never said anything stupid and kept his ego in check at all times. But saying that as soon as the season was over he was a different person and reading his interviews from all over the net, he was just trying to say all the right things and it was purely contrived and you could see right thru it. I knew something was up and now with his wakeup call maybe it will straighten that boy out. Good luck Dejuan and Sam

Doubt me for any number of reasons, but not because I can’t name a Pitt D-lineman who is worth a damn. Mel Kiper can’t do that!

HI THERE. This is Chas with an edit for the idiot. Finite Wisdom happens to share the same IP as NoePa and Marino’s Nose.

Different opinions are welcome.

Sock puppetry is a big no-no here. As are attempts to just be a troll and try to stir things up. Especially with BS rumors.

Comment by Finite Wisdom 06.26.09 @ 10:31 pm

“Sock puppetry”???
“troll “???

Chas, thanks for policing this board, but can you interpret a few words that some of us older guys may not be able to find in a dictionary?

Comment by BigGuy 06.26.09 @ 11:57 pm

“Sock puppetry”
“troll“

Chas, a light bulb flashed in my head. (Hey, it’s late.) A further explanation is not required.

Comment by BigGuy 06.27.09 @ 12:44 am

Chas,
Thanks for calling out the trolls. I try to ignore them, but sometimes they need to hear someone call bulls#*!

Comment by Ghost of Horn Man 06.27.09 @ 1:00 pm

Finite…NoePa…Marino’s Nose…whoever you are, it’s not about GM’s “seeing more” of players when their team makes it to a final four…It’s about the over-the-top CBS hype machine that kicks into gear for a full week leading up to the final four. You see the best of the players hyped over and over again. And if a team happens to win a National Championship, then the “star” players are annointed as having that something extra in the clutch. If you think that NBA GM’s are not affected by this giant hype machine, you are denying the simple fact that advertising works!
