I had it all planned out. Get things done in the morning. Run a couple errands and have things well-situated that I would be home by 11. Settle in for a full day of basketball action and kick it off with a liveblog of the ND-Pitt game.

Yeah, about that. Around 5:30 or so, the daughter comes into our room. Gets on the bed and tells us she isn’t feeling well. At that point she provides a graphic demonstration. All over the bed. Sigh.

So, there is a belated open thread and I’m already some 20 minutes behind watching. So I’m on DVR delay.

I hope your daughter feels better Chas. Maybe she can help us defend the perimeter. How can you defend against a team that shoots this well? Puke on them.

Okay, only down 4 despite ND’s absurd hot streak from behind the arc. Blair is doing a great job on Harangody. Keep it up, those 3s are going to stop falling eventually.

Comment by Will 01.31.09 @ 12:36 pm

Levance and Sam reeeallly need to step it up and play like seniors

Comment by Hollywood 01.31.09 @ 12:37 pm

We may lose this game but experiance tells me, live by the three …you die by the three…
red hot shooting by them…not much other than Gibbs by us…still we’re only down 3 at the half…

Comment by dan 72 01.31.09 @ 12:48 pm

young is playing like a bonehead. i can’t recall a flatter looking shot than gibbs but as long as it goes in and Harangody’s shot is atrocious, brings to mind donatas zevackas’s. 20 rebound day for blair?

Comment by Gary 01.31.09 @ 12:50 pm

Down 6, but in principle I agree, there’s no way Zellers can keep this up all night.

Comment by Will 01.31.09 @ 12:51 pm

We could have been down by 15 easy. Gibbs came through for us and kept Pitt in the game. All we need to do is keep bruising the inside and wait for an opportunity to happen on the outside. If ND goes cold from deep then they will lose by 10 easy.

Comment by Panthoor 01.31.09 @ 12:51 pm

Sam Young, 0-8 no points, what is wrong with him.up down up down. We must have him play steady, doesnt have to be the man. Geez hes killin us.

Comment by buzz 01.31.09 @ 1:04 pm

well that was a decent start to the 2nd half LOL

Comment by Brian 01.31.09 @ 1:05 pm

Maybe a big second half for Sam, who knows

Comment by buzz 01.31.09 @ 1:05 pm

At this point in the schedule you just want to be in the game late. That is all you can ask for. Defense wins championships(Go Steelers!) so if we keep plugging away, good things will happen.

Comment by Panthoor 01.31.09 @ 1:08 pm

Why is Woodall in the box score? I hope that’s a mistake.

Comment by matt 01.31.09 @ 1:13 pm

Hopefully they confused Woodall with Robinson.

Comment by Panthoor 01.31.09 @ 1:13 pm

again…live by the three …die by the three.

Comment by dan 72 01.31.09 @ 1:14 pm

[…] Pitt Blather: This just in, Chas over at Pitt Blather is unable to live-blog the game because his daughter, um, yakked all over his bed. Ahhh…parenthood. […]

As good as Blair is…Dixon is unconscious …all over the floor…what an addition he has been to Pitt…

Comment by dan 72 01.31.09 @ 1:27 pm

Impressive showing by Pittsburgh in the second half today. By the way, I thought I’d let you guys know that your RSS feed for posts doesn’t seem to be working — I haven’t gotten any updates since January 8th, 2009.

This is so beautiful! Expect the Steelers to win the same way tomorrow….

Comment by dan 72 01.31.09 @ 1:35 pm

Jermaine Dixon – JPage with a jumper? For a while I thought we were looking at Antonio Graves 2.0, but damn this kid is growing on me.

Comment by 85 01.31.09 @ 1:36 pm

Dave Mustache sighting with some recruits.

Comment by Panthoor 01.31.09 @ 1:37 pm

I’m in the office trying to get a few things done but “watching” the game on Rivals.com. It says Biggs is 1 for 6 and has scored only 2 points??? He didn’t score against V. Ouch! The publicity he got must have jinxed him. He has to do better because McGee is a non-factor.

Comment by BigGuy 01.31.09 @ 1:43 pm

Dixon has gone from one of our worst perimeter shooters to one of the best on this team.

Comment by Panthoor 01.31.09 @ 1:47 pm

Hey, WVA is starting to make a game of it with Louisville.

Comment by BigGuy 01.31.09 @ 1:49 pm

That was a big win for us. Who cares if ND has lost 5 in a row, they had us down by 10 early. Now we handle our business and snack on some RMU and DePaul.

Comment by Panthoor 01.31.09 @ 2:01 pm

Good win going into a semi break in the schedule until Uconn

Comment by Brian 01.31.09 @ 2:06 pm

Brian, I am only Brian here.

Comment by Brian 01.31.09 @ 2:19 pm

Brian #1- I wouldn’t call it a semi-break. Yes, RMU and DePaul should be wins but WVU and Cinci are no teams to sleep on. West Virginia will have a chip on their shoulder and Cinci’s a midlevel team with the talent to make the NCAAs and not a bad record in the Big East to show for it.

Comment by merlin 01.31.09 @ 2:22 pm

Good win. No idea why Zeller didn’t play more since Pitt had no one to guard him. Dixon played great defense on McAlarney and Blair did more than hold his own. Levance has to do better than 3-7 from the free throw line.

Comment by Joey D 01.31.09 @ 2:32 pm

Biggs brings so much to the table besides points. He is having a great season and is a key player on this team.

By the way, Antonio Graves was also a great player for Pitt during his career.
