The shooting was not lousy. This game was BEAUTIFUL! This was Big East basketball at its finest...the Big East basketball we've trademarked and the kind we like to shove down people's throats. I think this FSU team is going to give people problems (especially teams like Wake) in their conference schedule because of the brand of ball they play. Great game to watch, I was thinking the whole time: Duke would need pads and helmets to play this game. When you hold a top 40 team to 14 made field goals, you did a helluva thing. We were a little sloppier than usual, but completely physically beat up FSU. It was great to see us make big plays when we needed to...I think that's the sign of a good team. JD had to have told the Pitt players to keep taking it right at them....Pitt continued to drive right at the FSU big men all day....altered a ton of shots....others simply didn't fall. Remember the axiom -- shooting may be hot and cold but defense and rebounding can be there every game -- (EFFORT) Having said that ... a cold shooting game has led to many letdowns in NCAA (Mich St, Pacific, OK St, etc)-- this is where Sam must take over hopefully with more help from Levance. Although I agree that it would be better for them to be road-tested, they have had similar preseason schedules in the past like this year, and still have fared well in the Big East.
