http://njmg.typepad.com/rublog/2008/10/snys-not-iago.html

Regarding no TV for the Rutgers game: Scarlet Knights Newzer places the blame on that contract that the Big East signed with ESPN. Chas said a while ago that signing away the BE's internet broadcast rights was a foolish thing to do, and now I guess it's caught up with us. Unfortunately, this is just the tip of the iceberg as our online-broadcast rights are locked into a multi-year contract. I didn't see too much about it before, but the BE just re-upped with ESPN regarding TV coverage. http://www.bigeast.org/ViewArticle.dbml?&DB_OEM_ID=19400&ATCLID=1589765 The article doesn't mention anything about internet broadcast rights, but if I recall correctly the internet deal likewise extends through 2013.

As I noted, Chas called it a year ago. I wonder if he is being considered for the Big East Commish spot.

cant go wrong with 3:30 games, plenty of time to tailgate and should be a good crowd if/when pitt wins this Sat. Hopefully next yr we will not have this big of a gap between home games.

I'll take the 3:30 game. The noon games were making the drive from VA a bit long.

I thought what Chas thought when I saw the game time - ABC probably said, "Pitt, we'll show you regionally, but you have to beat Navy first and still be ranked. Don't go telling anyone you're going to be on because we don't want the committment if you crap the bed in Annapolis."

It's been stated on several sites that the Pitt vs Rutgers game, as of right now, will not be televised what-so-ever... blah

To follow up my concerns about seeing Pitt v. Navy on TV from the other topic that you were all kind enough to help me with, check it out (to those in my predicament):

CBS College (or whatever it's called) is offered as part of a special sports package on a lot of cable providers. Mine offers it (as well as the NBA, NHL, and even the AWESOME Big 10 Network and a couple others) for just $4 per month.

As a comparison, we ordered the VaTech v. Nebraska game on ppv (gf's a big Tech fan) from ESPN Gameplan a few weeks back and it was like $23.

Even if I just want to get it to watch one lousy Pitt game, it's more than worth it by that standard. Plus, I think NHL Network shows Pens games sometimes too. So, for the same price of one Gameplan ppv game, I can get nearly 6 months worth of about a dozen sports channels.

Of course, if my sister that has satellite gets CBS sports for free, the point is moot because I'm just going over to watch it!
