Todays article "This is our time" in the Pg today was great. The players seem to be more focused and prepared than ever and clearly saying "there are no excuses" this year. The article got me pumped for the season. Now of course the hard part - actually turning that attitude in to wins on the field.

Here is another article about Buddy Morris and how hes helped the two johnstown kids:

Sounds like Buddy is dropping pounds and adding muscle and speed....

/sigh

Initiating strong doses of eye-rolling, sarcasm and just a touch of exasperation that I actually have to explain this.

I'm in no danger of quitting this. The compliments are great, but I generally, prefer cash. Complaints and insults aren't a problem either. I get far worse for lesser things on FanHouse.

Since I really can't believe I have to explain a post I'll type slowly:

It - was - a - partial - transcript - from - the - opening - press - conference - on - Pitt - Media - Day.

While I'm sure that a careful parsing might yield some nugget of insight into the mind of Dave Wannstedt, more likely it reflects more upon the reader's view of what was important. Said, not said, etc. The reality is that it was generally free of a lot of vital information.

The real information comes from more questions that weren't in the press conference. That the media asks and would be reported later.

Let me repeat a key thing.

It - was - a - partial - transcript - from - the - opening - press - conference - on - Pitt - Media - Day.

There's no real news as yet to analyze. There have been no practices. Wannstedt hasn't even watched the players in offseason work out, per NCAA rules. He only has the reports from Buddy Morris. he has reports from position coaches on who has seemed to grasp the playbook. He has reports from academic support about how the kids were doing with summer coursework and such. Not really riveting stuff.

So, how to link to the partial presser transcript so others can read what they want, without completely boring myself? Have a little fun with it.

Thankfully, though, we aren't at Syracuse levels of gallows humor (though, it's great stuff).

No one in their right mind should be that deadly serious about press conferences in general. They are controlled, dry and managed experiences that cry out in the absurdity.

Winston- It seems to me that a more appropriate way to address what you feel are Chaz's shortcomings would be via e-mail. By posting a comment for everyone to see, your motive seems to be directed more toward attracting attention to yourself and less toward your perceived improvement of the quality of this blog. Yaknowwhatimean there, Slappy?

Keep up the fine work, Chaz.

Are you all afraid that if you don't constantly compliment, I would use stronger words, Chas, that he may stop posting? Not everything he writes, or cites, is great, is it? I thought that was the point of a blog, to encourage dialogue, even when that dialogue isn't complimentary? And, yeah, I have a blog as well, and yeah, I know what I am talking about, and yeah, Chas does a good job, and yeah, not all the time.

What's up with people complaining about free information?. This place is where we drink our coffee and read about our beloved teams before we go out the door. Oh, and I love cliches, give me more please. Chas, you're a great human being, don't stop fighting the good fight.

This is a great way for Chas to make sure we are aware of the interview being available, without acting like he takes it too seriously.

Quit complaining

Did you seriously just write a paragraph critiquing the content of a blog that is by its definition free to you? Dude, if only there were some way to figure out which posts may be lighter in the in depth analysis that you are used to digesting and churning out. Sometimes blogs have "headlines" or "opening paragraphs" that cue the reader into the possibility that the primary purpose is to redirect the reader to news stories on their favorite teams that may be puff pieces.
