The ’08 Non-Con for B-Ball

Pitt still hasn’t listed it. Not everything is finalized. Still here’s what we know at this point.

Duquesene

Robert Morris

Legends Classic — 2 home games and 2 in Newark (Nov. 20-29)

Vermont (Dec. 6)

Maybe Memphis (Madison Square Garden, Dec. 17)

That’s 8 games, so that leaves about 4-5 left that are unknown.

Figure a couple more cream-puffs on the home slate. I have to believe at least an A-10 team to come to the Pete. Otherwise the home non-con is on the weak side as far as fans go.

I can’t say how I got this info, but here are some of the other confirmed games:

– Farleigh Dickinson
– Miami, OH
– TBD
– Florida State

As you mentioned, Legends Classic will be 2 home and 2 in Jersey. Memphis is still being discussed. No word on who the TBD is – likely a small conference school, perhaps Coppin State.

We are supposed to play at FSU also as a return visit for them playing at the Pete 2 years ago. We will have 13 non conference games, so this leaves 4 to go.

If Jake is right, which I assume he is, then we also have Fairleigh Dickenson and Miami Ohio at home, so this leaves us 2 to go along with the MSG game.

I have also heard that they are trying to get a Big 12 school on the schedule also. I have heard maybe Texas Tech or Oklahoma State again. But if they can get that Memphis game as a solid lock on the schdule, that would be tremendous!!!

Texas Tech is in the Legends Classic, so that seems unlikely. A very good opponent from a Big 12 team — aside from the obvious of Texas or Kansas — would be Baylor.

We’ll see. I think it’s obvious that Pitt needs at least one good home opponent on the schedule.

Glad you were able to confirm that TBD game for us, Jake

Will there be a Maggie Dixon Classic this year?

I know that is a women’s tourney by the way, just wondering when and where it is…
