I need to crash. I’m feeling very drained, even though all I did was blog, drink a couple beers and do my best not to wake the kids while watching. It’s a good drained feelings. Not feeling particularly coherent.
Shameless commerce divisions already have the Big East Tournament Championship T-shirts for sale and hats.

I had to get a quickie post out on FanHouse, and the great fun was looking at all the Getty Images of pictures of the Pitt players celebrating. Seeing the players and Coach Dixon cutting down the net. Just have to smile.

It is just a great feeling right now. One that can actually be enjoyed for a day or two. The season isn’t over, but it’s been a wild and twisted one so far.

Looking forward to the selection show.

Todd Gack here reporting live from NYC. It is 4 in the morning, I am drunk, and I got to experience a huge PITT victory in person. Hell of a game. Hell of an atmosphere. Went to the game, hotel, and Rose O’Grady’s (PITT bar) Hell of a night. Was on the floor at MSG. The players and all coaches seemed real excited. Saw Barry Rohrson in the players hotel. Gilbert Brown is the real deal.

I am absolutely drunk off of my ass!!!

And I am also absolutely as happy as can be tonight!

Pitt made us all proud! Let’s enjoy it for a night, and then get ready for some more ass kickings in the dance, courtesy of your University of Pittsburgh Panthers!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow! just looked at Lunardi’s Bracketology (updated today at 1am) He has Pitt as a #3 seed in the South Bracket. In the same bracket as #1 seed Memphis and #2 seed Texas…

If that happens that is an incredible rise in over 4 games.

Here’s hoping the comittee for once gives Pitt more props than they have in the past

in regard to such a large class coming in this year (2 over the limit) does that mean Dixon knows Sam Young was leaving? and also Cook would be denied? Wallace apparently will go on medical also, to free up the scholarships. Does anybody know how Lamarr Patterson’s team made out in the piaa playoffs?

@#%*@#! HAIL TO PITT!!! WHAT A PERFORMANCE!!!

If you were a high school student and listened to the post-game interview with Jamie Dixon – tell me you would not want to play for him…the W. Va game helped football recruiting – this game (and Jamie Dixon) will help basketball recruiting.

i was at the first BET championship….in bahstahn for this one….i was the loudest and most annoying person at the bar last night and i could care less…..JYUHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHh PITT!!!!!!!!!!

Who knows what Young is going to do, that kid marches to his own beat. I think Cook being denied is 90%+, cause he already sat that year transferring. Past rulings don’t bode well for him. And i heard the Wallace thing too, sounds like he may be out for an extended period, if not done at Pitt.

I’d like to welcome everyone to “Screw Pitt Sunday,” or selection sunday for the rest of basketball fans out there.

Considering i have no faith in getting a 3, i’m still hoping we get a six. Besides the big east teams, there are only 6 teams out there i don’t want to play – if we could avoid the 1 seeds til the elite eight.

Oh, and i’m taking bets, 2:1 odds that we end up in UCLAs bracket, like we do EVERY YEAR. “But its not intentional.” ::wink::

I really think this team has it in them to get further than the sweet 16. They showed how pissed off they were in the BE tourney – they were not going to be denied. I think they feel the same way about the NCAAs – they’re tired of hearing “yeah, but when you gonna get past the sweet 16?” We finally have a “go to guy” during the game in Young, and one that will hit shots at the end in Fields. They finally bought into every possession matters, on offense and defense. A complete 180 from how they had been playing just a few games ago.

Finally, does anyone else realize Levance Fields assist to turnover ratio was 5.5 TO 1 in the tourney? That’s ABSURD. His WORST game was 4:1. I wish that kid could play here forever. Imagine how many wins we’d have if he’d have played the entire year…

Oh – and we’re 15 in the RPI now.

Comment by Stuart 03.16.08 @ 10:45 am

Sounds like a 4 seed to me.

Comment by alcofan 03.16.08 @ 10:56 am

I also want to point out we ended up tied for 2nd place in wins in the big east with 14 (LU and ND). Only Georgetown had more. Maybe thats why we’re being projected as a 3 seed. Honestly, take into consideration the Fields injury, our record since the kid was back in game shape (7-1), winning the tourney, i’m beginning to believe we may just deserve it.

I’m not holding my breath though.

Jamie made a point on TV of saying that Pitt was 18-1 with a healthy Fields. I would say 18-2 as I think the Dayton and WVU games should both count – the Dayton game was out of hand when Fields got hurt. Either way, remarkable.

Comment by Kevin 03.16.08 @ 11:14 am

I think Pitt’s going to get a #4 seed, although I think a #3 is realistic. If I remember correctly, Syracuse got a #5 seed after winning the BET even though they were a bubble team going into the tournament. I’m not sure if that means anything.

My biggest fear is that they will face George Mason in the first round. Living in Northern Virginia, I’ve become a Mason fan the past six years and attended a few dozen games during that time. Mason plays great D and has quick guards who can all penetrate and hit threes. Of course, I don’t think Mason has anyone who can handle Sam Young.

Comment by Sean 03.16.08 @ 11:14 am

We were only down 11 when fields broke his foot…hell, we were down more at Douche and came back. That game was far from over. We folded after he went out though. I’m only counting games Fields played the entire game on 2 good feet.

I hope like hell we don’t get a 4 or 5. Higher is NOT always better – those guys have to play a one to GET TO the elite 8, a 6 or 7 doesn’t have to play a one UNTIL the elite eight.

Comment by Stuart 03.16.08 @ 12:08 pm

But Stuart, especially this year, when you’re going to see teams like Tennessee and Texas/Kansas as a 2, the difference between playing a 1 and a 2 in the Sweet 16 is pretty marginal.
