Beat Marquette

It’s not like we can dictate things, but I think I would be willing to lose to Notre Dame and Louisville in the following two games as long as Pitt takes out Marquette tonight. Why?

This.

Seven members of the 2002-’03 Final Four team will be in attendance for Friday night’s game against Pittsburgh at the Bradley Center.

Travis Diener, Steve Novak, Terry Sanders, Scott Merritt, Andy Freund, Jared Sichting and Tony Gries will be honored at halftime. Dwyane Wade will be playing in the NBA All-Star game in New Orleans and unable to attend. Also missing the ceremony due to prior commitments are Robert Jackson, Todd Townsend, Joe Chapman, Chris Grimm and Karon Bradley.

Grrrr. Nice timing. Please spoil this.

every marquette game seems to go down to the last shot with us – I expect this one to be the same. Please beat these a-holes and that annoying coach.

i can still remember roaming the streets of oakland and finding small fires on that night 03

we really should play them twice every year

I remember watching the screening of the Pitt-Marquette Sweet 16 loss at the Pete. I’m sure a few of you were there as well. The free popcorn and Pepsi courtesy of Mr. Chancellor Nordenberg never tasted so bitter. I’m expecting another close game tonight, and I’d be on board with your willingness to trade a win tonight, but for the fact that I think Notre Dame still has that huge home win streak. But that is a thought for another day.

Looking forward to watching this game on TV tonight.

Pitt needs to start winning consistently now that Big East Tourney time is coming!

No shame in loosing to Dwayne Wade that yr. He’s an nba all star and Brandon is in his lifes work.

Ace, you should take that prediction over to http://pregame.com. They have a “Beat the Streak” contest going on where you can win some prizes.

Pittsburgh is 13-2-1 ATS in its last 16 Friday games.
The OVER is 20-8 in Marquette’s last 28 games vs. Big East.
The UNDER is 7-2 in Pittsburgh’s last 9 Friday games.
The UNDER is 15-5 in Pittsburgh’s last 20 road games.

I was at the Metrodome on that fateful Thursday night where the underdog Warriors took you out. Go Warriors.

I don’t understand why someone would take the time to say something like that. I watched the game, and we lost. Go Pitt.

What purpose does that serve?

Anyway, that game will always piss me off. I knew a lot about that Marquette team, and was pretty much certain that we’d win because we had good players to defend Wade….and then no one actually defended him. Also, it ruined any positive memories I’ll EVER have about Donatas Zavackas, who will always be remembered by the faithful as a quitter. And as it turned out, that MU team was damn good, and Coach Crean has proven himself as well. No shame in losing to that team, just anger at our squad because we should’ve played better.

In retrospect though, it has certainly helped the BE that Marquette did so well, because they get a lot of respect for it. And for having had Wade. Deservedly so, obviously.

Tonight, however, is not about that game. Its not about that team, no matter what the halftime presentation says. Its about establishing momentum in February. This isn’t the first time we’ve been up and down in the middle part of a conference schedule, but this unit is better equipped to pull it together than some of those past teams. Love the way Ronald and Sam are playing right now….let’s get DeJuan back on track and pick up a big road W to go with our quality home and neutral site wins.
