Bilas has always been a Duke homer. What's the big surprise?

I agree that this decision is questionable, but see some of the post-Duke threads for proof that, at least in the afterglow of the victory, Bilas was saying the right things about Pitt being legit. I'm not sure if he took an extra swig of Coach K-ool Aid over the holidays or what, but before the slight on the Power 16, he had given us a lot of credit. (Not to mention the fact that, for a guy with two free degrees from the institution, he was decidedly less pro-Duke than most of us expected during the actual game.)

I did think about that as a possibility to his logic, but I am stunned that he moved Pitt THREE spots lower that a team they just beat. He's clearly alone in his thinking as the other nine voters all put Pitt no lower than 7th or 8th.

Anyone who watches Pitt knows that while the Cook injury will hurt, Gil and Benjamin should fill in enough that they won't miss much of a beat (unless we get into foul trouble).

Bilas is a madman.

Yeah, I commented on this in a thread yesterday....its because Jay thinks the Mike Cook injury pushes us below Duke. I agree that this is absurd because we just played them, but I guess I understand his perspective. I think if we can string together a few wins without Cookie, that should quiet the naysayers. Hopefully.

I know these rankings are meaningless, but did anyone happen to check out ESPN.COM's individual rankings for the Power 16? Jay Bilas has Duke ahead of Pitt (he's the only one of the ten voters that does). I have to imagine that he just didn't get his vote in on time this week (though that's hard to imagine since the game was last Thursday - a week before these rankings came out).

What sense does that make?
